Choosing a computer

When choosing a computer consider many of the following:

Usage Environment:

Where will you use it?? Will you use it at home, at school, or at work? If you use it at school or work you should see what type of computer you will need.

Hardware Specifications:

Processor speed - if you are just going to use the computer for basic tasks like word processing, or checking e-mail, you don't need a fast processor, but if you're going to have advanced programs, like graphics programs, you might want a faster processor speed, Processor speed is measured in megahertz per second.
Amount of RAM
Hard Disk space - How much space will you need
Monitor type, or size- Do you want CRT, or LCD monitor, and what size
network hardware - how you're going to connect to the network
removable storage
operating system

The more you have of RAM, Hard drive space, the more expensive the computer will be. A bigger monitor size, will also cost more.

Warranty:

How long do you want your warranty, if your computer breaks the warranty should cover it.

Where to buy your computer:

If you buy it at a store, you can see it, talk to a computer technician, and you can get it faster.
If you buy it online, they are usually cheaper, but may not get it as fast or be able to see it, and talk to a computer technician.
